In Northern Ireland we are living well beyond our environmental limits. With the highest ecological footprint of all UK regions, we would need three planets to sustain our current lifestyle. Learning how to live in a more sustainable way is important to the protection of our planet for future generations. Every organisation and individual have a role to play in protecting the environment.
By taking far more than our fair share of the earth’s resources, we're leaving our planet in a sorry state, depleting its natural resources, contributing to climate change and threatening species with extinction. Climate change affects us all and we need to take action to prevent it.
With an abundance of rivers, streams, mountains and valleys together with a distinctive scenic landscape, Banbridge District is one of the most picturesque places to live, work and visit in Northern Ireland. The Council has long prided itself on being a responsible organisation and, as such, it endeavours to maintain and protect the local environment. This section summarises the Council's structured approach to ensuring this beautiful part of the world will be enjoyed by future generations.
